Dmitri V. Talapin is the Ernest DeWitt Burton Distinguished Service Professor of Chemistry at the University of Chicago and a global leader in colloidal nanocrystals and functional nanomaterials. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Hamburg, following earlier training at the Belarussian State University in Minsk, Belarus, and conducted research at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Talapin is renowned for pioneering synthetic and assembly strategies that have advanced quantum dots, nanoscale solids, and high‑performance electronic and optoelectronic materials. With more than 250 publications, numerous patents, and exceptional citation impact, he continues to shape next‑generation materials for renewable energy, resilient electronics, and technologies for extreme environments and space exploration.
