CME Gives Global Industry a Voice at IEF for 2030 Global Energy Transition
The 72-member-country International Energy Forum invited leading policymakers and senior energy and climate risk thought leaders to strengthen energy and climate security, reach sustainable development and emission reduction goals by 2030, and focus on the next 18 months. Shah Karim, SafeRock CEO, and CME Officer, had the privilege to lead the committee on energy transition and financial market stability.
The distinguished International Energy Forum (IEF) and the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) convened the Second IEF-GARP Global Energy Risk Forum on 7 June 2023 in Paris, France. The Forum invited leading policymakers and senior industry thought leaders such as Shah Karim, SafeRock CEO, and CME Officer, who joined the IEF’s Industry Advisory Committee and led discussions on energy transition and financial market stability to reach sustainable development and emission reduction goals by 2030 and focusing on the following key issues:
1. Ensuring Energy Stability During the Transition
2. Transformative Trends in Energy Supply and Demand
3. Socially Responsible Business Practices
4. Grid Transition to Ensure Reliability, with Lower Energy and Emissions.
Invited participants discussed energy security in the midst of climate change. This deep dialogue explored key themes from the inaugural session that IEF and GARP convened in Madrid last year. It was a privilege for a CME board member to be invited to “The Home of Global Energy Dialogue” and give a voice to the CME STEM supporters who make possible events to attract the STEM Talent who will make the energy transition a reality.
CME is pleased to share these unique forward-looking insights with the executive teams of CME supporting organizations. CME global connections have important implications for corporate capital allocation, future investments for energy, petrochemical, and Industrial companies. CME thought leadership along with recognition of world-class STEM talent through CME’s STEM leadership awards, NASA symposia, and American Chemical Society (ACS) programs.
