Biology Adjunct Professor

CME Volunteer Kourtney Kelly is Adjunct Professor of Biology at Pace University in New York City. Kourtney is completing her master’s in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She is an adjunct professor for first year biology lab classes and will apply to medical school. As an undergraduate student researcher she analyzed the growth of Mycobacterium bovis-BCG in NRP to observe NADH, H+ levels and ATP levels. Mycobacterium bovis is a slow-growing aerobic bacterium and the causative agent of tuberculosis in cattle. It is related to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium which causes tuberculosis in humans. M. bovis can jump the species barrier and cause tuberculosis-like infection in humans and other mammals.
