Roque Benavides is Chairman of Compañía de Minas Buenaventura S.A.A., a Peruvian precious metals producer with over 64 years of experience in exploration, development, construction and mining operations. Buenaventura is the first Latin-American mining company to list on NYSE starting in 1996 and the largest owner of mining rights in the country. A most influential figure in Latin America, Benavides has championed sustainable mining and education. For his exceptional service in international trade he has received medals by the governments of Brazil, Ecuador and Italy. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Peru’s largest Bank, Banco de Crédito del Perú, and UNACEM. Benavides is President of the Peruvian Confederation of Private Business Institutions (CONFIEP), Past Board Member of the World Gold Council, Past President of the Silver Institute, Past President of the Peruvian Mining, Oil, and Energy Association. He holds degrees in Civil Engineering (PUCP) and an MBA (Reading, U.K.). He has completed programs at Harvard and Oxford.
